What is the Advocacy Toolkit?

We are thrilled to announce that GenMH Chief Executive Officer, Jackee, and Chief Research and Knowledge Officer, Hannah, have been awarded the UC Berkeley Social Impact Innovation Grant to implement a new program at GenMH!

In the next few months we will be working to launch an Advocacy Toolkit to help youth mental health advocates, particularly those with lived experience, to direct policy change through advocacy, in partnership with Orygen Global and Basic Needs Basic Rights Kenya.

This toolkit involves two key elements:

  1. A virtual course, available for free to young people for asynchronous participation and learning; and
  2. An experiential learning program, with select participants trained to deliver the program to others in their community.

While we expect that our course will result in immediate gains in self-efficacy, knowledge, and skills, the real hope is that the advocacy course empowers young people to make meaningful changes in their community through activism.

Sign up for our newsletter to stay up to date on the program! We plan to launch the online course in Summer 2024!
